07′ Rose Bowl Loss to UCLA…

Complete statistical domination, yet the turnover margin cost us the game. I think I saw a few shots of yours truly on that video. One thing about the 07′ match-up and this 08′ match-up is that the high powered Cougar offense will again face off against a stingy D. Walker defense. This game is huge for both teams so emotions will be running high. We will really have to keep our composure throughout the game. If there is one thing a Pac-10 team does well it is talk, and the Cougars can not afford stupid penalties that will stall quality scoring opportunities. (The bowl game was a great game, and a huge win. I wish this video was just better quality)
I know I have beat this saying to death, but UCLA made one more play then we did in 07′. Then during the regular season our team perception and desire changed. When the Vegas Bowl came around we were a different team and could not be denied.
I would also like to comment about the play where Kayle Buchannan intercepts the ball and is running with a UCLA player on his back. Yeah, you know the play. With one UCLA player on his back, Kayle is in anothers sights, but he misses and waxes his own guy behind Buchannan. The UCLA receiver that was hit actually lost 2 teeth, but no worries UCLA has a great dental school.
Agreed on that hit. The play starts at 3:46 above. That was a wicket hit!
Curious about how UCLA’s D-Line will compare to UW’s. UCLA completely shut Unga down in Vegas last year, but, as you pointed out, Unga was getting big holes to use against the Huskies on Saturday. Is that because the O-line is better this year or because Washington’s line was a lot worse than UCLA’s? And, if so, what do you think BYU’s rushing effectiveness will be against UCLA?
Given the speed of their corners and secondary, it doesn’t seem like we can beat them again this year without Unga/Fui putting in some good yardage on the ground.
Hey Gooch, was that you that dropped the interception early on in the game? TIC Is there anyway you we can suit you up this year to help our young secondary??
Quinn, I’m loving your blog since my friends tipped me off to it. You’ve got a unique perspective on things. I was wondering how big of an advantage you think it is that we play UCLA at home this time.
Yes, that was me that dropped the interception. I felt like a moron. I had hands like feet in the first few games of the season last year.
