Just so you all don’t think I am wrapping this blog thing up for the year, I am happy to report that the blog has eclipsed the 500,000 page load mile stone. I don’t know how great that is, but it seems like a crap load of page views.
As a measuring tool, the 500,000 page loads would equal approximately 200,000 site visits since August 26, give or take a few thousand -although a lot of the visitors were return visits. A normal visit consits of 2.5 page loads and about 4.5 minutes of reading bliss.
It’s been a good year for deepshadesofblue, and 09′ should bring even more success.
Happy New Year, and party like a rock star! Roll Tide!

Quinn,
Since August, I have looked forward to reading about your insights on this blog. I have been obsessed with Football, especially BYU Football my whole life and it rubs off on my family. My little boy’s first word was football.
I would like to thank you and all of the contributors on this site. Your perspective is one that us fans can really learn from and I always seem to be pumped up (especially after a bad game) after I read your blog.
One question I have for you, did APX stop advertising on your website? If so, what can we do as fans of your site to help sustain and possibly create more advertisement for your site? Feel free to send me an email if you wish.
Thanks again for a great year – GO COUGS!
Keep it up! You guys are great.
Keep up the superior content, Quinn. You have the best BYU football blog on the planet bar none! Here’s to 2 million in 2009!
APX contract came up and we haven’t been able to connect to extend the contract through next year. Since signing the sponsorship with APX I haven’t persued other advertisers/sponsors. I am always willing to talk with folks about advertising and sponsorships. The site is a great value and would create some great exposure to a variety of buisnesses and industries.
The best way to help would be to pass the info along. With a season under my belt things will only improve in the future. Hopefully all of those folks I talked to this year will come knocking next year. I guess they could justify spending on a site that was so new.
The only problem with that reasoning is next year the price goes up.
Quinn,
I’ve really enjoyed this site. I used to frequent some other BYU sites, but this is the only one I take seriously now. (Other than checking TBS every once in a while to see about recruiting updates).
Any luck finding a former BBall player to discuss the team this winter?
I’ve spoken with a few basketball players, but none that would have the time that is needed to write on BYU basketball. That could be something to work on as the years progress.
Quinn (and Staff),
Thank you for such a sweet blog. Best wishes for a great new year.
I would love to hear some Shawn Bradley stories straight from his own mouth on his decisions to go pro and the highpoints and lowpoints of his career.
Wonder if Travis Hansen has any free time at all to discuss playing in Europe versus the NBA.
Quinn . . . I’d be interested in getting some info on advertising . . . would you email me some info? Thanks – and good work!
Quinn:
Have you ever thought about subscriptions? I would be willing to pay a small fee yearly for this insight and information on the best team in sports.
Just a thought.
Awesome site Quinn, by far my favorite cougar website! Thanks for a great year, and look forward to next. Go Bama!
As for the subscription suggestion I think that advertising is by far the best way to go, my wife has me on a strict budget…
Don’t forget about all the RSS readers out there. I can (and do) read your entire posts through Google Reader without ever coming to the site. I bet you have quite a few more readers out there like me.
Love the blog – keep it up!
Quinn-
My congratulations to and thank you also for the very best BYU football site. It has been great to get your, Markell and other players’ insight on the team. I would have enjoyed hearing your take on the LV Bowl but I guess it’s far enough behind us that there is no point in digging up the dead.
Finally, I am surprised that no one has yet noticed or cared to comment on your, “Roll Tide!” I sincerely hope that you were not referring to Alabama because if you were you were slighting the MWC and the State of Utah. That is what is so crazy about this rivalry…in the Pac10, all teams cheer for each other once the season ends and rivalries are put aside.
I am a faithful Cougar fan but I am cheering for the Utes (and predict they will win a very close game on a last second FG by Sakoda) for the following reasons:
1. They are in the MWC (so far we are 2-2)
2. They are a Utah team
3. Kyle Whittingham is an alumnus of BYU
So I bow out by saying ROLL UTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. if you did not mean for Alabama to win, please accept my apologies
hey, this is a great website I really like reading the views of players instead of the meadia/want to be players. A couple things, is Manase Tonga enrolled at BYU now? will he be back? Will you have more of those Haka shirts. GOOOO Bama!!!
ROLL TIDE!
Sorry Quinn, Mars and all fellow Cougs!
Too bad that the Utes, our brothers up North, reduced Bama to a Low Tide! Hand it to them, what they have done this season beats anything we have ever done…yes that includes our 84 season.
They shocked the world like Cassius Clay (who became Muhammad Ali) did when he beat Sonny Liston. This win goes right up there wih some of the greatest upsets in the history in any sport.
Quinn, they have the better athletes and this will give them an edge in recruiting. Like one of their DB’s said, they have 2 or more guys who run 4.2’s and who we have that can run even a 4.4? Maybe none. I have been a defensive expert throughout my playing and coaching years and agree when it is said that the hardest thing to defend is speed, and brothers, we don’t have it…but TCU and Utah do.
We better suck it up and start recruiting better athletes or we will remain in the tail lights of the abovementioned two teams and the middle of the pack MWC teams will catch us.
GO UTES!
No one ever responds to my posts (I have been the last to post on many occasions this past season) so I case what I have said is spot on.
Me thinks you give yourself way too much credit there brother Walt. Anyone who ends a post with go yewts on a Cougar fan site are automatically ignored
GO COUGS!!!
