BYU has 30 minutes to make it happen.
Everyone understands that this game is going to be close.
BYU’s offense moved the ball effectively throughout the first quarter and part of the second quarter. Then our offense decided to jump off-sides, hold, jump off-sides, P and I and the list goes on. We need to tighten up our offensive execution so we can keep AFA’s offense off the field.
Our defense came out firing and was handling the option good. Then Air Force’s full-backs were able to find spaces for good yardage which opens up all the other AFA offensive options. We need to find a quick answer to AFA’s end around plays and would a defensive back please get off a block and make a tackle on a running back. It was painful to watch our defenders getting man handled down the field by those miniature cadets.
Our defenses second half efforts needs to begin with the full back. If we can stop the full back and force the Falcons to use other players we’ll make it out of this game with a win. If we can’t stop the full back all of the reverses, options, play action and quarterback runs will become more and more effective as the game progresses into the fourth quarter.
The offense simply needs to stop shooting themselves in the foot. Instead of running the ball near the endzone we decided to throw the ball into triple coverage.
Air Force is going into the locker room with the emotional momentum. Our defense has to come out of the locker room with their hair on fire.

Wow, frustrating to watch that INT. I agree completely. It is time for BYU to make a statement and we have to come out guns blazing.
Here’s to a much better half….
Go Cougs!

The bad news is that this is another indication of what happens when we face a quick D-line and a halfway creative blitz. We will beat AFA but I worry about the Utes.
Once again, we see our soft underbelly at O-line and all of defense other than Jan.

I’m upset the Utes kept up with their “end of the bargain” making it to the Holy War (apologies to my medieval ancestors) undefeated. But I have a feeling if we were undefeated, Utah would beat us. Now our team has that edge; they’ve tasted that bitter defeated and don’t want to do that again.
This time, we get the top of the 34-31 score, and I can finally put those numbers to rest.
