Post Game, SDSU Week »

[10 Nov 2008 | 12 Comments | ]

Do you know what the SDSU game was like? It was the kind of game where you make a great play, but remember that the team you are playing is 1-9 with their only win coming against Idaho.  As a player you have to rely on your preparation and your experience in order to have enough emotion of kick a dying…. nay dead Aztec horse.

I seriously don’t know if I am going to be able to take nail biters every Saturday. I loved close games when I was playing, but as a fan I want to see domination and physical play. However, at the same time I have accepted that each game will be close and BYU has the ideal team to win any game that goes down to the wire.
How much confidence do we have in our BYU offense? You can talk about the turnovers or the penalties, but you have to tip …

We all left the stadium nodding in agreement that our team, while good, is going to have to fight tooth and nail the remainder of the season. A lot of credit needs to be given to these up-and-coming UNLV Rebels. They have been tested and proven and their team is becoming one that could earn some bowl games appearances.
In comparing last weeks loss and this weeks win their are a few things that stick out in my mind.
BYU made plays early, which gave the Cougars the emotional edge throughout the …

“I thought it would be interesting if I wrote a post game report along with Quinn just to be able to compare how we each viewed the game. I am at a slight disadvantage in that I am limited to watching the game on the mtn (who continues to impress me with their incompetence as a sports network) so my angles are a little different. Thus I will not go into great detail but give more of an overview of the day.
Today was a great day for the …

Let me tell you why this game was so good.
Both offenses played at a high level and the our defense when faced with adversity came through and won the game. Both sides of the ball had some ugly moments, but in the end the offense drove down the field, scored and added the two point conversion. It was left up to our defense to make a play to win the game for us.
I was encouraged because we didn’t rely on our big name defensive players to make the needed plays. …

This game was defining for all the wrong reasons. The streak is over, the -not a quest for a perfect season- Quest for a perfect season and the hopes of a BCS game have been dashed on the rocks of frustration and humility at the hands of the Frogs. That game was hard to watch and is hard to write about. Normally I look for the positives of our teams performance, but after last night I can only wait to see what happens next week. It was a serious slap …

I would like to first echo one of the comments posted after the game yesterday.
Petey said:
“I’m just happy that the program has reached the point where people complain about only winning by 18! lol”
The game was cold and quick, honestly why would you complain? I left the stadium knowing that BYU is going to be alright. Whether we win by 50 or 1 we still have a team that builds off of each other’s success and continues to take their opponent’s best punch, smiles, and punch them right back between …

This game was amazingly entertaining. It was filled with great plays from both sides of the ball. The Cougars performance was practically flawless. We couldn’t be stopped on offense and our defense produced turnovers, big hits and best of all kept a goose egg on the scoreboard. I think this game ranks among the best performances in BYU history. For me the best part of the game was the infectious energy of the crowd and the passionate display of athletic performances on the field.
How did I do?

After playing in games like this, a good friend used to tell me; “whether you win by one point or one hundred points, they still count the same.” His words have never been more applicable; we left Seattle 2-0 with a win, period.
How did I do?

We got the win, and in the grand scheme of things that’s all that should matter.  It is just more exciting to look deeper into the performances.  First of all, lets look at my performance.  After watching the game, here is what I thought of my scouting report.
